US pre-open: Futures little changed following Thanksgiving break

(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures had stocks opening slightly lower ahead of the bell on Monday as trading gets set to return to normal following last week's Thanksgiving break. As of 1250 GMT, Dow Jones futures were down 0.06%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.05% and 0.01% weaker, respectively.

The Dow closed 188.59 points higher in Friday's holiday-shortened session, wrapping up 2024's penultimate month on a positive note.

Trade Nation's David Morrison said: "Little has changed this morning with the US majors mixed in early trade. Investors will now be considering how much exposure to run in the lead-up to the year-end. The general expectation is for some kind of 'Santa Rally' to take equities higher through Christmas and into New Year. But there's still a fair amount to consider before getting to that point."

On the macro front, S&P Global's November manufacturing PMI will be released at 1445 GMT, while October construction spending figures and the Institute for Supply Management's November manufacturing PMI will follow at 1500 GMT.

In the corporate space, Stellantis shares headed south in pre-market trading on the back of news that chief executive officer Carlos Tavares had resigned as a result of "different views" to those of its other directors.
