Week ahead: Central bank speakers, Global PMIs in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus over the coming week will be on a veritable flood of central bank speakers from across several of the world's main economies on the occasion of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank's annual meetings in Washington D.C.. Included amongst those will be the heads of the Bank of England and European Central Bank, both on Tuesday.

Preceding them on the day before will be a flurry of top Federal Reserve officials.

Linked to the debate around monetary policy going forwards, on Wednesday the US Fed will release its so-called 'Beige Book' ahead of its November policy meeting.

A barrage of purchasing manager survey results for euro area manufacturing and services will be published on Thursday in the UK, euro area and US.

US durable goods orders data for September, which are due out on Friday, may also make for interesting reading.

So too the latest readings on UK consumer confidence from consultancy GfK, on Thursday, and from the University of Michigan, for US consumers, on Friday.

Rate-setters in Canada and China will meet to decide on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.
